What is Cat MBTI?
Cat MBTI is a free cat personality test. Answer 16 questions about how your cat acts day to day, and it describes their personality as one of 16 types. The four MBTI dimensions are reworked to fit a cat’s life.
The four axes are Friendly or Happy Alone, Old Habits or Curious, Cool Cat or Cuddle Bug, and Clockwork or Free Spirit. Based on your answers, the result shows as a percentage how far your cat leans toward each side.

- What kind of test is Cat MBTI?
- It’s a free test that describes your cat’s personality as one of 16 types after you answer 16 questions about their everyday behavior. It takes about 3 minutes, and no sign-up is needed.
- How is the type decided?
- For each of the four axes (Friendly / Happy Alone, Old Habits / Curious, Cool Cat / Cuddle Bug, Clockwork / Free Spirit), the answers to its 4 questions are added up, and the side your cat leans toward sets that letter of the 4-letter type. On an exact 50/50 split, the letter goes to Friendly, Old Habits, Cuddle Bug or Free Spirit.
- Does coat color or breed change the result?
- No. The coat is only used for the illustration and the result card, not for deciding the type. It also doesn’t suggest any link between coat color or breed and personality.
- What if I have more than one cat?
- Test one cat at a time. If you go back with “Take the test again” on the result page, the name and coat stay filled in, so you can switch them to your next cat’s and start.
- Can I test a kitten or a senior cat?
- Yes. Kittens change as they grow and seniors change with age, so enjoy the result as a picture of your cat right now. A sudden change in behavior may be a sign of a health issue rather than personality. If a change worries you, check with your vet.
- Is my cat’s name sent anywhere?
- The name is saved only in this device’s localStorage and is never included in share links or page URLs. It’s sent to LoveType’s server only when the result card is shown or saved, to create the image.
- Is this the same as the real MBTI?
- No. It’s a just-for-fun test that reworks the four MBTI dimensions for cats. It has no connection to the official MBTI and isn’t a medical or academic assessment.
